Charles (CJ) Pernici is currently the Assistant Band Director at Ruston High School and Band Director at I.A. Lewis 6th Grade School.
Mr. Pernici attended Louisiana Tech University from 2005 to 2010, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He taught in Bossier Parish and then spent 3 years in Plaquemines Parish as the Director of Bands at South Plaquemines High School in Buras, La.
During his time at Louisiana Tech, Mr. Pernici studied trumpet under Dr. Sorensen, music theory under Dr. Alexander and Dr. Sorensen, music history under Dr. Immel, music education under Dr. Lyons, and conducting under Mr. Lawrence Gibbs and Mr. Jim Robken. He participated in jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, symphonic band, marching band, hoop troop, brass quintet, intercollegiate band for Louisiana, and participated in local music at churches and with the Russtown band.
Since graduating Mr. Pernici has led marching bands at football games, competitions, New Orleans area Mardi Gras parades, concert bands, and other smaller ensembles. He occasionally performs trumpet professionally.
Mr. Pernici lives in Minden, La with his wife, Rachael, and daughter, Evelyn.
